Construction for the new Santa Clara Transit Station on the former Santa Clara Elementary School site is underway. Delta Construction, a Santa Clara neighborhood company, is the General Contractor for the project.  The initial effort has focused on clearing the site by stripping the topsoil, stockpiling usable soil, removing asphalt from previous buildings, and preparing the subgrade. As we enter into June, Delta will continue earthwork and constructing the aggregate base for the site. Following subgrade completion, sanitary and water lines into the site will be installed. Plumbing and electrical lines will also be laid for the small driver relief building. In mid-June, we are anticipating to begin pouring concrete footings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first week of June, Delta Construction will be removing 3 trees located in the right-of-way at the northeast corner of the Green Lane and River Road intersection. This work is anticipated to take one day, will occur between the hours of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and will require the eastern northbound lane on River Road to be shut down briefly. Later on in construction, 19 new trees will be planted in the right-of-way and 55 new trees will be planted on the site of the transit station.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Privately Engineered Public Improvement (PEPI) efforts are expected to begin in mid to late June. PEPI efforts include reconstruction of Green Lane including a sidewalk, installing a traffic signal at the intersection of Green Lane and River Road as well as constructing Elementary Lane along the eastern border of the property. During PEPI work, intermittent lane closures along River Road and Green Lane will occur. At this time, a schedule is unknown. As a reminder, Delta Construction is planning to have working hours between 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. with possible Saturday work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
