Forming a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation would allow people and businesses to donate to the non-profit and be eligible for a potential tax deduction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There has always been a desire by the SCCO to form a non-profit.&nbsp; Donors to past projects could have benefitted from non-profit status.&nbsp; While we can\u2019t make non-profit status retroactive for past projects, we foresee some potential projects, both small and large, in the future.&nbsp; Here are some current and future potential projects where it would be beneficial to have non-profit status for donations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/santaclaracommunity.org\/scco\/the-santa-clara-schoolhouse-project\/\">Conversion of the old schoolhouse<\/a> on River Loop 2 to a community center<\/li><li>Community Gardens (<a href=\"https:\/\/santaclaracommunity.org\/scco\/santa-clara-community-garden\/\">The SCCO currently has one garden at St. Matthew\u2019s church<\/a>)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/santaclaracommunity.org\/scco\/santa-clara-douglas-firs-urban-logging-project\/\">Santa Clara Timbers Projects<\/a> (local old growth Douglas firs to be used for projects in Santa Clara)<\/li><li>Neighborhood Park projects (Santa Clara has 6 undeveloped neighborhood parks)<\/li><li>Annual Santa Clara Celebration<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many other possibilities and we welcome your suggestions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At our November 5th SCCO Zoom meeting, we will also be voting on moving forward with the conversion of the old schoolhouse.&nbsp;
