The Eugene City Council wants to hear from community members about community safety needs as they finalize funding priorities for the\u00a0Community Safety Payroll Tax<\/a>. In addition to an\u00a0online survey<\/a>\u00a0(open through March 31), Eugeneans can attend virtual meetings this month to share their perspective on the Community Safety Initiative (CSI) strategy and approach. Both meetings will follow the same format, and will be recorded and available for viewing after their scheduled times to increase access to information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Both meetings can be accessed at this link<\/a>, and require the passcode CSI-2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe want to hear from our community through these public meetings and the survey, and our hope is that having a variety of ways in which people can participate will make it easier for our communities of color to share their perspectives,\u201d said Kevin Alltucker, Community Safety Initiative Project Manager. \u201cHearing from communities of color on this issue is important at this critical moment in the community conversation around race, policing and public safety, and this effort will help to ensure the needs and priorities of undeserved members of our community are reflected in the Community Safety Initiative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The City is doing culturally specific outreach with a Spanish language version of the survey<\/a> to our mono-lingual Spanish speaking community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Results of the listening sessions, along with input from focus groups, public comment, and the survey will help inform the Council as it considers any adjustments to CSI funding.
