This shortage has left our community\u2019s blood supply at emergency levels, meaning there is not enough locally-supplied blood to meet patient needs. In fact, our community is facing the worse blood shortage in our region since the coronavirus pandemic began over a year ago<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here is why:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7 Patient usage is a record high 18% above normal, resulting in 500 additional units distributed in the past 7 days. Types O positive and A positive are especially in demand.<br>\u00b7 Our community\u2019s blood supply is currently 1,700 units below operational levels; meaning only an emergency 24 hour supply of all blood types is available to hospitals.<br>&#8211;&nbsp; No show rates are significantly increasing to almost 30%<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are plenty of convenient locations to donate blood!!&nbsp; Use this link (&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dslnk.co\/Zone13Bloodworks\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/dslnk.co\/Zone13Bloodworks<\/a>) to find a Pop-Up Donor Center in your area or go to our Center at 2211 Willamette Street.
