Heavy rain and moderate to strong winds are forecasted for Eugene, with the greatest impacts anticipated to occur outside of Eugene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the incoming rain and wind, Eugene Emergency Management and Public Works want to help you prepare yourself and your family and understand how Eugene\u2019s crews respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Public Works does to prepare for heavy rain and wind<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clears storm drains and picks up leaves that could block drains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Checks and clears outfalls \u2013 the areas where rainwater flows into flood drainage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepares wastewater facilities for higher flow levels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What community members can do in advance of travel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/MapClick.php?lat=44.0520691&amp;lon=-123.08675360000001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Check the National Weather Service<\/a>\u00a0for weather updates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tripcheck.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TripCheck<\/a>\u00a0or other services to check routes before traveling out of the area, as weather and road conditions may be different.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What community members can do to prepare for a potential emergency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Clear leaves from gutters and storm drains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep battery-operated radio and flashlights charged and ready for use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain a two-week supply of food, water, heating fuel, and clothing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep vehicles fueled and stocked with a winter storm kit that includes: Blankets, flashlight and extra batteries, first aid kit, shovel, sand or cat litter (for tire traction), windshield scraper, jumper cables, chains or tire traction devices, flares or reflective triangles, road maps, extra warm clothing including gloves, extra food and water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resources for community members<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Report downed branches, trees, or debris on City streets or in City parks:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eugene-or.gov\/1776\/Maintenance-Service-Request?id=22\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Request for Service<\/a>\u00a0or call 541-682-4800<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Call 9-1-1 for emergencies.
