Be Prepared for potential flooding

Eugene Public Works crews ready for potential flooding; community encouraged to prepare

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for parts of Oregon, including Eugene, beginning late Wednesday night until late Friday. Heavy rain and moderate to strong winds are forecasted for Eugene, with the greatest impacts anticipated to occur outside of Eugene.

With the incoming rain and wind, Eugene Emergency Management and Public Works want to help you prepare yourself and your family and understand how Eugene’s crews respond.

What Public Works does to prepare for heavy rain and wind

  • Clears storm drains and picks up leaves that could block drains
  • Checks and clears outfalls – the areas where rainwater flows into flood drainage
  • Prepares wastewater facilities for higher flow levels
