Community Garden Soil Building Workshop – Free Admission

On June 3, at 2 pm, there will be a workshop and demonstration of soil building at the Santa Clara Community Garden, 4110 River Road in the Santa Clara neighborhood of Eugene.  Composting of several different types will be described, including: lasagna (layers), deep lasagna, hugelkultur (wood), vermiculture (worms), and Master Gardener Bonnie Houston will demonstrate how to building a hot compost pile.  Other OSU Extension Service Master Gardeners will assist, including  translation to Spanish.  The workshop will take about  90 minutes, and is free to the public.

Santa Clara Community Garden is a partnership between Santa Clara Community Organization, St. Matthews Episcopal Church, and Huerto de la Familia.  The garden is located about two miles north of Beltline Road, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, next to a bus stop for easy access.  The address is 4110 River Road in Eugene.
