One Response to Important Public Hearings that impact Santa Clara in Early April

  1. Peter Bolander says:

    Hello:
I attended the April 17th meeting at Harris Hall. I was shocked to see the number of individuals giving public comment on the current and proposed development north of the Delta Highway/Beltline Interchange and how much attention that Delta Highway north of the interchange and the interchange in general obtained. Of the 25 or so individuals 13 spoke about the development north of the interchange. Not one person spoke concerning the River Road/Beltline interchange. I do not know if the written or spoken word carries more weight to the Eugene City Council and Lane County Commissioner’s but I did send a letter and spoke at the first public meeting addressing the importance of making the River Road/Beltline Interchange a high priority. If the spoken word is more important I am afraid that the Delta Interchange project will be accomplished prior to improving the River Road interchange. That does helps us in the Santa Clara neighborhood but not as much as the River Road Interchange. I do not know if the Santa Clara Neighbor Association sent a response to the Transportation Plan to the city, I asked a few months ago but did not receive a response form this “leave a reply”.

I might suggest more presence at future meetings with increased numbers from the Santa Clara neighborhood since my guess the squeaky wheel likely gets the grease.
