Community Blood Shortage – Donate Now

Bloodworks, the need is now

The need is now! Bloodworks Northwest has less than 24 hour supply of blood on hand. This shortage has left our community’s blood supply at emergency levels, meaning there is not enough locally-supplied blood to meet patient needs. In fact, our community is facing the worse blood shortage in our region since the coronavirus pandemic began over a year ago

Here is why:

· Patient usage is a record high 18% above normal, resulting in 500 additional units distributed in the past 7 days. Types O positive and A positive are especially in demand.
· Our community’s blood supply is currently 1,700 units below operational levels; meaning only an emergency 24 hour supply of all blood types is available to hospitals.
–  No show rates are significantly increasing to almost 30%

There are plenty of convenient locations to donate blood!!  Use this link ( https://dslnk.co/Zone13Bloodworks) to find a Pop-Up Donor Center in your area or go to our Center at 2211 Willamette Street. The Irving Grange has a pop-up event on April 29 and 30.

Make an appointment by using the link https://dslnk.co/Zone13Bloodworks or by calling 800-398-7888.

Note:There is no deferral waiting period to donate if you receive the Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson/Janssen, Novovax or AstraZeneca COVID vaccine.

Donate between 4/5 – 4/30 at any of our Donor Centers or Pop-Up Donor Centers for your chance to win a Microsoft Surface Pro 7.
