Community Garden clean up and Compost build- Thursday, 2/15, 2 pm

Santa Clara Gardeners, you are invited to come out on Thursday afternoon (2/15, 2 pm) and clean up your garden bed, mulch it, and compost some of the materials we have been collecting.  The pile of leaves are for mulching.  We will discuss how we are changing the composting process at the garden.  We will have several more composting workshops in coming months.  The garden is located behind St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 4110 River Road (map).

Existing plot members.  You may renew your garden plot for the coming year by sending a check made out to Santa Clara Community Organization (SCCO) for $60.00.  Please let me know if you would like to make other arrangements, or if you are not planning to continue gardening in your plot.  My email is: thurstop@gmail.com .

The check may be sent to: Peter Thurston, 446 Blackfoot Ave., Eugene, OR  97404.

Happy gardening,

Peter

  1. Tim Foelker says:

Great time to start cleaning up. Leaving some organic matter (spent plants, leaves, brush piles, etc.) over the colder season helps beneficials (like ladybugs) winter-over and bounce back early in the spring.
