Free Meals for Youth

Summer Lunch Program

There are many sites around Eugene offering free meals for youth either through Food For Lane County or Eugene District 4J . Click here for a full list. Awbrey Park Elementary School is the Santa Clara site. (District 4J will offer meals at Awbrey Park Elementary School through September 4th.)

Meals at Awbrey Park Elementary are available Monday through Thursday between 11 am and noon. Meal bags include breakfast and lunch, including hot options most days. Thursday distribution includes up to four meals per bag, with items intended to be consumed immediately and other items intended to be re-heated or cooked over the weekend. There is an option for milk or soy milk.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Meals are for ANY child age 18 and under
  • Meals are provided at no charge
  • No income requirements apply, and students do not have to qualify for free or reduced-price school meals
  • Children do not need to be present to receive a meal
  • Children do not need to be students in 4J
  • Children do not need to attend school at the site where picking up meals
  • Meals are a grab-n-go style, with both breakfast and lunch available at the same time
  • Food supplies are sufficient to provide meals based on typical participation
  • Social distancing rules must be observed at all times—staff, students and families picking up meals must maintain at least 6 feet of distance from any person who is not a member of their immediate household

Free Food Boxes

Awbrey Park Elementary School is also a location for food box pick up on Wednesday’s between 11 am and noon. The food box program is part of the USDA’s Farmers-to-Families Food Box Program. Three types of boxes will be available depending on location: one that prioritizes fresh produce, a second that provides a mix of dairy products, and a third that includes precooked meat. Make sure to ask the attendants at Awbrey Park when the following week’s delivery will occur. The delivery day and time may change on occasion.
