Videos posted from January 4 SCCO meeting

The quarterly Social Justice Committee presentation was the featured portion of the January 4 meeting – Mobility International USA. This is especially good to view if you have friends or relatives who are mobility impaired. Here is a link to the video.

CERT in-person training March 12th

The CERT Basic Training program is a hybrid course with an initial online class, and then three in-person classes.

The first step:  Obtain your FEMA Student Identification (SID) number

To reduce the risk of identity theft, FEMA, the National Fire Academy (NFA), and the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) are eliminating the use of the Social Security Number (SSN), where possible when applying for training.
FEMA has implemented the use of a Student Identification (SID) number. You will be required to obtain and use the SID in applying for NFA or EMI courses. This number will be used in place of the SSN on your application.

Read more on how to obtain your SID  https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid

The second step: complete the online portion of the course.
Here is the link https://cert.hazready.com/CourseCatalog
Be sure to scroll down and click on the course titled: ONLINE TRAINING – CERT 2021 en. Then click on the REGISTER button.

The third step:  Once you finish the online portion of the course, you will need to forward your completion certificate to me, Tracy Baier, at: TBAIER1@amfam.com.
That certificate will be your key to registration for the in-person training.

The fourth step:  Register online for the class at https://eugene-cert.com/cert-basic-training
That will reserve your seat for the class.

The next public in-person class is the evening of March 12th and 14th, with the Final Drill on March 16th.
Another class is planned for Fall of 2024.

Applications are being taken for several City of Eugene Boards and Commissions. We’ve had some interest at SCCO meetings about figuring out how to work with our local law enforcement agencies. There are six openings on the Police Commission. Having a Santa Clara resident on the Police Commission might be a good start to strengthening our relationship with law enforcement.

Please take a look at the various Commissions and Boards to see if you are interested. Applicationss should be submmitted online at www.eugene-or.gov/bcc
