It came to our attention that the latest update of Zoom on Windows PCs may have some trouble connecting to the speaker/microphone. Jerry Mohr, she’s our most recently elected SCCO board member and a technical professional, has this to say.
“It’s a known problem and Zoom is working on it, but have not released a fix yet. Just found this: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201361953-New-updates-for-Windows
Under Resolved issues, 3rd item – “Resolved an issue for a subset of users regarding Zoom finding no speaker due to a request timeout for a Windows API “
Looks like they don’t have a release date for the fix. But if you have other zoom meetings with folks using Windows systems, let them know not to upgrade yet. If they already have it, they can go here to download and install an older version (they have to uninstall the broken version first): https://zoom-us-zoom.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions
Ver. 5.6.6 worked for me.”
