Neighborhood Workshops – Next Ten Years of Parks & Recreation

Screen Shot 2016-01-28 at 5.09.19 PM

You may have attended some of the input sessions at meetings or ‘pop up’ events last year.  The results are in and the city is ready to share the results with us.

Staff will share what they learned from public outreach last summer and the vision that’s emerging for the future of parks and recreation in Eugene. Food and childcare activities will be provided. For info call 541-682-4800 or email carrie.a.peterson@ci.eugene.or.us.

Please put this on your calendar and help support your desire for dog parks, community parks, and parks with river access, et cetera, in the Santa Clara area.

Awbrey Park Planting/Work Party Postponed to the 10th

DarcyDue to the expected freezing temperatures this Saturday, the Friends of Awbrey Park have decided to postpone our January first Saturday of the month work party.

We will now be meeting at Awbrey Park on Sunday, January 10th from 10a-1pm

This will be a volunteer work party not to be missed!  The new bridge and trail is now complete, allowing easy and safe access from the neighborhood behind the park.  We will be planting hundreds of native plants along the new trail and near the bridge.

The new bridge is a huge improvement for our little park and we hope you will be able to join us in taking this final step in the process.

When: Sunday, January 10th
Different Time: 10am – 1pm

All tools, gloves & snacks provided by the City of Eugene Park Stewards Program

Lorna*Rain or Shine – but not freezing weather

Please forward this email invite on to a friend.  We would love to have them join.

Happy New Year

Awbrey Park Bridge Complete in time for Christmas

TChristmas Bridge 2015-2he Friends of Awbrey Park received a Christmas present in the form of a new bridge that connects the park with the neighbors to the east of the park.  Previously, neighbors had to traverse a slippery log over a creek or walk along Spring Creek Drive where there is no sidewalk.

Work has been underway for about three months including a few minor delays due to inclement weather.  A compacted gravel path winds through the woods to the bridge.  Once across the bridge, it is a short walk to a beautiful stone bridge – Devinstone Bridge and then onto the playing fields and playgrounds.
