Reminder: Meeting on future of old North Eugene High School meeting is this Wednesday, April 12

In anticipation of a school board decision on the fate of the old North Eugene High
School in mid-April, the River Road, and Santa Clara Community Organizations
requested that the 4J School Administration hold an Information/Feedback Session on
the future of the building and the Yugin Gakeun Japanese Immersion Elementary School
and Kelly Middle School programs.

Here is their response:

Dear North Eugene neighbors,

With the new North Eugene High School set to open this fall, the Eugene School Board is
reviewing options for what to do with the existing building once it’s vacated. Join us for an information session on April 12 to learn more.

Info Session: North Eugene Building Update
Wednesday, April 12
6:30–7:30 p.m.
4J Education Center, 200 N. Monroe St.

The decision to retrofit or tear down the existing building is not made in isolation, as either option carries impacts for the new high school, other school buildings in the North Eugene
region and the need for field space for both the district and community at large.
The existing North Eugene High School has been an important landmark and community
gathering space in the North region for more than a half-century. The district is not taking this decision lightly.

Additional information can be found on the district website here, as well as an opportunity to share questions and thoughts on the decision.

We hope to see you on April 12.
Jenna McCulley, Director of Communications, and
Intergovernmental Relations
Eugene School District 4J
