Twenty-one dogs, a cat, a hamster, and an unknown number of isopods (known to many of us as roly-polies) joined hundreds of frolickers on July 18 at the Grand Opening of Santa Clara’s Community Park for a Community Pet Parade! Former SLUG Queen Glo Leigh Anne Jasheway led the way on a fine July morning through our new community park.
Celebrity judges Master Gardener/Recycler and KLCC host John Fischer, Raining SLUG Queen Hilaria Gastrognome (aka Jen Jay) and Mayor Kaarin Knudson had the difficult task of awarding prizes for:
Largest (Penny the dog!)

Smallest (in a Surprise Move beating out the hamster, Isopods in a terrarium!) Too small to photograph!
Hairiest (this cutie!)

Best-Dressed (Cowgirl dog!)

Best Attitude (Beau the puppy!)

A great time was had by all.
Big thanks to our sponsors, who donated a total of $500 in gift certificates. These provided a nice incentive (and reward!) for entering, and likely were a root cause of why we had such a nice long list of entrants. Please frequent these businesses, and let them know you appreciate their support of our community:

Thanks for all the great pictures of the pups and their humans at the SC community park opening. The pet parade was certainly the centerpiece of the day.
