Meeting: Thursday, August 22nd
12-1pm
McNail-Riley House
601 W 13th Ave Eugene
The Neighborhood Leaders Council Housing and Homelessness committee will continue with a year-ending series looking at shelter and housing options in Eugene. The July meeting was an informative look at legal and illegal car camping with Regan Watjus, City Manager’s office and Keith Heath, St. Vincent de Paul. In August, Linda Barnes, Lane Co. Human Services will talk about “what went right and what went wrong” with the Hwy 99 Dawn to Dawn camp. We hope to also have a speaker to address the city’s plan for a 75 bed shelter.
Looking ahead: Monthly meeting conversations will take a look at Winter Strategies for sheltering the unhoused, the recently passed HB 2001 allowing increased density in residential areas, the overlap between disaster preparedness and addressing housing/shelter needs, and efforts to carry out the TAC report recommendations. Here is a link to the public shelter feasibility study.
