The Friends of Awbrey Park received a Christmas present in the form of a new bridge that connects the park with the neighbors to the east of the park. Previously, neighbors had to traverse a slippery log over a creek or walk along Spring Creek Drive where there is no sidewalk.
Work has been underway for about three months including a few minor delays due to inclement weather. A compacted gravel path winds through the woods to the bridge. Once across the bridge, it is a short walk to a beautiful stone bridge – Devinstone Bridge and then onto the playing fields and playgrounds.
The above picture is of one of the first groups to cross the bridge on Christmas Day. We hope you take advantage of this new opportunity to enjoy the joys of nature that can be found through out the park.
