Lone Oak Park Dog Off Leash Area is Officially OPEN!

Do you ever wish there was a dog park in Santa Clara so you could unleash your furry companions without breaking leash rules at other playgrounds and schoolyards in the area? We’ve got great news for you!

There is now a sanctioned off-leash area for dogs at Lone Oak Park, located off Ross Lane and Lone Oak Ave. Click here for location map (Think near Fred Meyers, right off Division street, behind the EWEB power plant).

Please help us spread the word about the dog park, and join us for a grand opening dog park party this Sunday, September 16th, at noon!

Through the City of Eugene’s Neighborhood Matching Grant process, the Santa Clara Community Organization was able to secure funding and volunteer help to make this Dog Off-Leash Area a reality! The DOLA includes on-site parking, thanks to Delta Sand & Gravel, and a lovely informational kiosk thanks to volunteers Alan Carr and Gary Wildish.

*Please note* The Lone Oak DOLA is not a full amenity dog park, meaning there is no water or trash disposal on-site, so please bring your own water to keep your doggy hydrated, and remember you are responsible for picking up and packing out your pet’s waste.

The SCCO thanks Delta Sand & Gravel, Alan, and Gary for their outstanding and generous contributions to the project!

Thank you! Long overdue, but a welcome change. Let’s hope this further deters homeless camping in that area and increases community activity and involvement. YAY!

    • Becca Marx says:

Thanks for the thanks, Judy! Please do tell your neighbors, especially those with dogs under voice command, to come out and enjoy the space! 🙂

It’s really nice to have a dog park in the area. But what on earth were you thinking not to fence it?????
A friend told me there was no fence.
It is located close to beltline and division both very busy streets…..
What do you think dogs do????
They run and some dogs do not obey that well.
What are dog owners suppose to do when their dogs end up on busy streets???
Not very well thought through. I hope you fence that park ASAP.

      Hello,

Thank you for your comment. We do recognize that this off-leash area won’t work for every dog. At this time, the city has not approved a fenced-in dog park at this location. One of the rules, posted on the park sign, is that off-leash dogs must be under voice command of their owner.

      • Micheke says:

Well it seems that the city does know much about dogs. If a dog wants to chase a squirrel or cat or anything that runs, most dogs won’t obey voice commands. They get into a trance like state and are oblivious to anything else, voice, cars ect…..
So this park is for lap dogs and I wouldn’t trust any dogs. The only raisin is that it is so close to 2 busy streets!!!!
If it was in the woods it would be fine.
Sorry that things are done half way by the city.

Is this an enclosed area? I’d be concerned if it wasn’t ? Being so close to Division Ave & Beltline

  4. Patricia Smith says:

as a single female that lives just down the road from it, I won’t use it because of the drug deals that are done there, because it is hidden from the roads by bushes; also that it is not fenced in and my dog will chase anything that runs. I don’t feel it is safe nor do I feel safe in that area.
