Mutual Aid Efforts in Lane County

From the South Willamette Mutual Aid Network:

Dear friends and community leaders,

The Lane County Mutual Aid network has organized to respond to the needs of the community in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We collectively have the capacity to move through this crisis with love, compassion, and a dedication to justice.

This crisis has highlighted the flaws in our current system. Due to structural inequality, economic disparity, inaccessible healthcare, and an inadequate response from all levels of government, we are all at risk. Because of this reality, we have chosen to act.

We have live forms to Request Aid and Volunteer Aid (Spanish versions: Request Aid and Volunteer Aid), which seek to connect people to existing services and each other, and are eager to create a region-wide network of Neighborhood Point People who are keen to the needs and resources on their block.

Through this mutual aid effort, neighbors can communicate to identify and respond to each other’s needs in a way that our federal, state, and local governments cannot. Please fill out a form to request aid or volunteer. You can also find Lane County Mutual Aid on Facebook and Instagram at @lanecountymutualaid, reach out to us at lanemutualaid@gmail.com, or you can call our hotline at (541) 321-8749. Our efforts are only successful when all backgrounds, capabilities, needs, and interests are honored. Together, we can build a better world.

With Love and Solidarity,

Lane County Mutual Aid

Awbrey Park Wildflower Walk CANCELLED – Santa Clara Celebration ON HOLD

  • The Wildflower Tour at Awbrey Park on Saturday, April 18 has been cancelled.
  • The Santa Clara Community Celebration is on hold.

Wildflower Tour Cancellation:     The Friends of Awbrey Park have decided to follow the CDC guidelines of cancelling events for the next eight weeks.  That means the earliest we could hold the Wildflower Tour is the latter part of May, which is after the majority of wildflowers have bloomed.

Santa Clara Community Celebration:     The SCCO board will be meeting to make a decision about holding a Community Celebration later this year.  The format will be different because the Celebration will not be tied to the Wildflower Tour.  If you have any great ideas how and where we can have our community celebration, please let us know.

We hope to see you at next year’s Wildflower Walk and hopefully at a community celebration later this year.

The Celebration is also an opportunity to connect with over 12 groups or agencies that have projects or activities in the Santa Clara area.  We’ll be featuring some of these groups over the next several weeks as we approach the Celebration.

One of the agencies that will be staffing a booth is the Lane Transit District.  You may not have been able to attend meetings about the LTD transit station at the old Santa Clara School site or been able to attend meetings about the proposed system changes (route changes and frequencies).  Drop by the LTD booth to get the latest information.
