Start Recycling Plastics Now! (#2,#4,#5)

Lane County Plastics Roundup

IMPORTANT: Dirty plastic, plastic with glued on labels, and any plastic other than #2, #4, and #5 will NOT be accepted. All items must have a stamped resin code and any glued-on labels must be removed.

Tip: Paper and plastic labels may require soaking. The best method is to apply a generous coating of old cooking oil to the label and let it sit overnight, by morning it should be easy to remove.  Rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) will remove any remaining adhesive.

Tim Foelker is a designated “community collector,” please contact him (541-689-8897) to arrange for delivering your plastics, or arrange for a possible pickup. We should be able to take your plastics at the March 7th and April 4th SCCO meetings, so collect your sorted bags and bring ’em to the meeting! Check with your neighbors, too, and help them collect.

More information can be found at the Lane County Plastics Roundup page.

Park Watch – How to Report a Problem

City of Eugene Park Watch logo.

As we reviewed our 2018 accomplishments at our February 7 SCCO meeting, there was mention of problems at our new off leash dog park at Lone Oak Park. It appears things have improved, but there is still work to be done.

We want you to know there is an easy way to report park problems to the city. Just go the the Park Watch website. You will find a drop down menu with over 25 issues to choose from, including:
– Illegal Camping
– Safety Issues
– Trash
– Vandalism
– Graffiti

You then choose the park with the issue. Then you can place a ‘pin’ on the exact location in the park where the issue exists.

Park Watch has been used for both Lone Oak Park and Awbrey Park. The city usually responds quickly.

Please note that if you have an emergency or you are observing a crime in progress, please call 911.
