Beltline at Delta Interchange Improvement Project Update

The Oregon Department of Transportation sent representatives to our October 4th SCCO meeting to update us on the Beltline/Delta Interchange project as well as the possibility widening of the bridge over the Willamette at the Division street exit.  Also, Becky Taylor, from Lane County, provided an update on the Beaver-Hunsaker project.  Here is a link to a website that captures both projects:

lone-oak-park

A small group of neighbors in the Lone Oak Park area have coordinated with the Eugene Parks Department for a cleanup effort at the park on Oct 24th from 4-7 pm or until it gets to dark.

Everyone in Santa Clara is invited to help.  There will be a Eugene Parks Volunteer Coordinator present.

The Lone Oak neighbors have created a Facebook group specifically for the neighbors in that subdivision called Lone Oak Park Neighbors Santa Clara  for anyone in that area to post about garage sales, events, park developments, or any concerns.

At the last SCCO meeting there was a discussion about homeless rest stops and how our community might respond in the future when we are asked to provide space for these homeless refugees. It was decided to try to contact and organize local businesses to initiate a discussion of this issue.

SCRRIPT tries to get the attention of the County and City
The Santa Clara-River Road Implementation and Planning Team has worked the past several years toward the creation of an area plan for our community.  Such a plan would set the course of development and services in River Road and Santa Clara for the next 20 years.  The City has postponed its plans to begin working with SCRRIPT to focus on South Eugene. The Team will propose a letter to be presented personally to City and County leaders urging them to make the Santa Clara and River Road Area Plan a priority this coming year.

Neighborhood Matching Grants Due October 31

The Santa Clara area has had four neighborhood grants approved since 2008.  Most have centered around Awbrey Park and Spring Creek between Spring Creek Drive and East Beacon.

If you have an idea for a project, please email the SCCO or bring it to the next SCCO meeting on October 6.   Keep in mind that this is a matching grant, meaning the city’s money will have to be matched by money, labor, material or a combination thereof.

Here’s a list of all of the matching grants awarded since 2000,  The SCCO has been talking about a dog park and signage for bicycles.  Both are good candidates for a matching grant.  There are certainly many opportunities for Santa Clara.
