February Food Drive ends next week

There’s just one week left to contribute to Food for Lane County’s food drive. The SCCO and OnPoint Community Credit Union are partnering with Food for Lane County to help families this February.

A donation barrel is located at the entrance of the OnPoint branch making it simple to pick up a few items at Fred Meyer and make your donation on the way out. You can also scan the QR code below to donate funds.

If you are interested in placing an ‘Everyone Welcome’ sign on your lawn, contact the SCCO Social Justice Committee at sjc@santaclaracommunity.org .

West Bank Bike Path Open House – March 8th, 5:30 pm

From the City of Eugene:

There will be an open house on Wednesday, March 8th starting at 5:30 pm at Madison Middle School (875 Wilkes Drive directions) regarding the extension of the West Bank path from Hunsaker Lane to Wilkes Drive.

The purpose of the meeting will be to learn more about the project and schedule.  It will also provide a good opportunity for city staff to collect feedback on your opinions about where the path should go and what features it should contain.

We’ll also have materials available at the open house for the city’s Move EUG process.  The recent City of Eugene voter-approved pavement bond measure includes $15M in walking/bicycling/safety funds to be spent over the next 5 years.  We’ll be collecting input on projects you would like to see considered for spending.

For more information, please visit the project web page at https://www.eugene-or.gov/4860/West-Bank-Path-Extension

SCCO Condemns Anti-Semitic Flier

Sunday morning, anti-Semitic fliers were tossed on many driveways and lawns in the Santa Clara area.  The fliers are in direct contradiction with making Santa Clara a welcoming community to all. The Santa Clara Community Organization rejects hatred and bigotry in all forms and supports an individual’s right to lead his, her, or their life without influence from perspectives that foster racial, ethnic, or other bias-based outcomes.

If you have any information regarding this hate-bias incident, especially video or photos from a home surveillance system, please contact the SCCO social justice committee at sjc@santaclaracommunity.org.

You can report any Bias Crime or Incident to the Oregon Department of Justice:

·      Report online at the Oregon Department of Justice Bias crime or Incident Hotline

·      By phone: 1-844-924-2427

If you would like an ‘Everyone Welcome’ lawn sign, email sjc@santaclaracommunity.org .
