New intersection from eastbound Beltline for all Delta Highway travelers opens Thursday night!

Be ready Friday morning! Thursday night, June 10, the new traffic signal will turn on, the new lane will open — and all traffic going from eastbound Beltline to Delta Highway will exit on the west side.

This new intersection is for all Delta Highway travelers. Delta Highway traffic will stop to allow Beltline traffic to turn north. Southbound Delta Highway travelers will also go through a traffic light, but it will only activate if there is a pedestrian crossing the ramp. We try to accommodate all modes of travel when possible on our state highways. Our design allows pedestrians and bicyclists to cross through the interchange.

Take Clean Water Survey – maybe win a $10 gift certificate

From the City of Eugene:

Water is our number one natural resource! Having clean, healthy rivers benefits humans, wildlife and our quality of life. The City of Eugene would appreciate knowing what your understanding of our stormwater system is and how it is connected to our local waterways and pollutants that can cause harm. We’ll use the survey results to inform us on issues of concern and how we can focus our outreach efforts.

Please take our two-minute survey and share what you know. As a thank you for participating, 10 people will be selected for our drawing for a $10 gift certificate at Lane County Farmer’s Market. Survey closes June 20.

Take the survey here. You may have to create an account with the City to sign in.

More About Crazy Jumping Worms

OSU Extension Service has added information about jumping worms. Sightings are being reported in Oregon and you are encouraged to report any sightings from your garden.

Report sightings of Jumping Worm in Oregon at Oregoninvasiveshotline.org.

Related: Take a worm inventory of your garden.

I found Jumping Worms in my garden, now what?

  • Report sightings of Jumping Worm in Oregon.
  • Management options are limited; prevention is KEY!
  • There are no pesticides available to treat Jumping Worms.
  • Researchers are studying how to control these worms, but nothing has come back with favorable results.
  • Containing their spread is the best thing you can do! Learn to recognize the worms, in case you see them.
  • Do not transplant mulch, soil, or plants, without careful inspection to ensure that you are not spreading Jumping Worms.

If you do find Jumping Worms:

  • Dispose of Jumping Worms in the trash, and not in compost or yard waste bins.
  • You may consider solarizing soil where Jumping Worms have been seen. Some researchers think this may help to kill Jumping Worms and cocoons, in the soil.
