Are rats a problem for you in Santa Clara? Let us know.

At our last virtual SCCO meeting (Nov. 5, 2020) some neighbors indicated they’ve had challenges with rats on their properties recently. If you have any rodent experiences you’d like to share, including how you’ve dealt with them, please let us know in the comments. We would especially like to know if this problem seems to be worsening in Santa Clara so that we can be proactive in our response.

OSU Extension Service has some knowledge to share about dealing with unwelcome rodent pests. That information and other items can be found here: https://extension.oregonstate.edu/search?search=rats

The City of Eugene has some “Rat Education Materials,” though personally I think the rats are smart enough on their own. 😉

Here’s the city resources page: https://www.eugene-or.gov/3943/Rat-Education-Materials.

That page includes a link to this Rat Prevention & Control Brochure.

Learn the basics of electric vehicles

electric car rebates

rEV Up! workshops teach consumers the basics of electric vehicles.

Participants qualify for discounts on electric vehicle purchases at participating local dealerships.

Are you curious about electric vehicles (EVs)? The Emerald Valley Electric Vehicle Association (EVEVA) will be hosting two workshops to introduce local residents to the benefits and technology of EVs. The workshops will be delivered via live ZOOM videoconference.

Dates: Tuesday, November 17
Thursday, December 3
Time: 7:00pm
Website: www.revupeugene.org

Registration is required, and can be completed at www.revupeugene.org.

“These first two workshops are timed so that participants still have time to purchase a vehicle and potentially qualify for credits on their 2020 taxes,” said EVEVA organizer Charlie Loeb. “But we hope to regularly offer these sessions during 2021.”

Workshops will cover topics such as EV charging, batteries, range, cost, purchase
incentives, and benefits of ownership. Attendees at these two workshops are eligible for discounts of up to $1,000 on purchases of new EVs at participating local auto dealerships.

EVEVA is producing the workshops in partnership with the City of Eugene, EWEB, and the University of Oregon Office of Sustainability.

For more information contact Charlie Loeb, revup@eveva.org

Delta Highway single lane over Beltline Highway through November

Drone overhead view of Delta-Beltline interchange during construction in November of 2020.

From ODOT:

Travelers in Eugene should expect delays at the Delta Highway interchange with Beltline Highway as construction continues in November. Traffic is one lane in each direction as the banks on either side of the road are built up with dirt to prepare for intersection changes.

This portion of the work is scheduled to be done and all lanes open by Thanksgiving weekend, November 26, but that could change due to weather. The interchange is being reconfigured to improve safety and traffic flow.

new video shows what to expect in your travels. More information on the entire project is at https://www.oregon.gov/odot/projects/pages/project-details.aspx?project=19490.

Where traffic is routed through or around a work zone, pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will also be provided routes through or around the work zone.
