There are now three cover corp demonstrations at the Santa Clara Community Garden: one of peas and clover planted on bare ground, another planted in the new area for plots, and a third planted in an existing garden plot. This last one has many different mixes of cover crop seeds. There will be more information about the results in Winter months, and we plan to provide opportunities for gardeners to cover crop their own plots in coming months to improve the soil. Take a look at the cover crops as they grow. On November 3rd more soil improvement information will be presented when a Lasagna compost will be built. This workshop will be from 10 am to noon.
