Volunteers needed for this Saturday’s Juneteenth Celebration

The Eugene Juneteenth Celebration is short on volunteers, and have a particular need for parking support. They are seeking a few key supplies as well. Please consider volunteering for this event, which is very important to Black community members in this region.

Bystander/Upstander Training Available – Intervention without Escalation – FREE

Several of our SCCO members have taken the Bystander/Upstander Training. If you have ever witnessed a situation where someone is being harassed, but you don’t know what to do – this is the training for you.

Take the 2-part class on June 17 and 24, or August 11 & 18 – 90 minute online class – Register HERE

Learn and practice how to intervene when someone is being harassed in a hateful way-without escalating the situation. These workshops include lecture, video, demonstration, and breakout room scenarios. Experienced teachers lead this training where you will learn and practice several ways to effectively support a person who is being bullied.

Some of the skills you will learn about and practice include:

  • Being an active witness
  • How to engage with and support the targeted person
  • Ways to distract the harasser
  • How to involve others who can help
  • De-escalating the situation
  • The necessity of and strategies for “after-care”
  • Broader involvement in work for social justice

Reminder: Blood Donation Pop-Ups in Santa Clara 3 days next week

There is still an extreme shortage of donated blood. You can help out by signing up for the pop-up blood donation location in Santa Clara next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Monday ——- June 14 — 10 AM – 5 PM
Tuesday ——- June 15 — 9 AM – 5 PM
Wednesday – June 16 — 9 AM – 4 PM

City of Eugene Independent Police Auditor’s Office is looking for two Associate Police Auditors

The part-time positions support the Police Auditor in providing independent, external oversight of investigations of complaints involving police employees. This may include receiving complaints; monitoring or participating in internal investigations to ensure objective, thorough, and high-quality investigations; preparing reports on complaint trends and police practices. The Associate Police Auditor assists the Police Auditor in providing staff support to the Civilian Review Board appointed by the City Council.

This position is characterized by the Associate Police Auditor’s ability to enable the Police Auditor in providing fair and objective oversight of the police complaint process, building credibility among diverse audiences, and instilling public confidence in the complaint system. The responsibilities of both Associate Police Auditors are broad in scope and require the highest degree of professional, independent judgment, personal integrity, and accountability. The Associate Police Auditors perform work that is highly complex, and often involves sensitive and confidential issues.

  • Compensation: $30.57-$39.55 (Hourly)
  • Applications are only accepted online, and the deadline to apply is Monday, June 14, 2021 at 5:00 pm PDT
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday: 20 – 30 hours per week. Evening meetings required.
